Villa Flori

It is one of the most panoramical hotels in the neighbourhood.

It is a building with an original architecture: in fact, it has long balconies. At the beginning the building should have been a villa-bungalow which a rich Comense gentleman, Marquis Giorgio Raimondi, would have erected as a wedding-gift far his daughter Giuseppina, Giuseppe Garibaldi's bride to-be.

The marriage was broken a few minutes after it had been celebrated, but the villa maintained the original name "la Caprera" for a long time. On the contrary, according to what some scholars assert, another adjacent building "of romantic structure with a high attic encircled by statues" would be the real "Caprera".

In 1865 the villa was sold to Alessandro Flori. The present name comes from this gentleman's family. Around 1960 Villa Flori was transformed into the present, elegant hotel.
