Villa Geno

It was erected towards the middle of the nineteenth century by the architect Tazzini on request of Marquises Cornaggia Medici, who wanted a villa in late-neoclassical style.
On the same foundations there was another residence which had been erected by Marquise Menafoglio Ghilini towards the end of the eighteenth century.

The building, which had not been finished yet, was given by this lady to the Honourable Carlo Cornaggia, who came to live here and made the necessary adjustments.It was erected towards the middle of the nineteenth century by the architect Tazzini on request of Marquises Cornaggia Medici, who wanted a villa in late-neoclassical style.
On the same foundations there was another residence which had been erected by Marquise Menafoglio Ghilini towards the end of the eighteenth century. Towards 1850 his son had the building demolished and ordered the present  villa , which can be still admired for its classical style.

The Cornaggias realized the planted Viale Geno too, which leads from here to the piazza della Funicolare. At the beginning of this century this family sold the estate to the Municipality of Como.

For years this villa has been a well-known restaurant-house.
