Villa Cima

It is a pretty chalet along the admittance path to the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este.

We wish to mention this delightful mansion especially for the lady who lived here for a little more than thirty years, from 1900 to 1930, the year of her death, when she was ultra-ninety: "donna" Vittoria Cima della Scala. She was a great pianist, Arrigo Boito's inspiring muse and a wealthy lady, but most of all the life and soul of a famous intellectual and artistical drawing-room in Milan and, of smaller proportions, here as well. "A drawing-room which is a little descendant and a little secession of Countess Maffei's one", as a well-known journalist wrote in the "Corriere della Sera" at that time.

For years this chalet has been inhabited by the Mantero family, well-known silk manufacturers.
