It is the only estate on the Lake of Como which has a true lift connecting the villa-chalet on the lake to another yellow building at the level of the "Lariana Road".
Towards 1850 the Russian Prince Troubetzkoy, who had as his wife one of the great dancer Maria Taglioni's daughters, had a pre-existent rural building demolished and started the work for his house. Back from Siberia, where the prince had spent six years of hard labour inflicted on him by the Czar for attempted insurrection, he chose Blevio, on the Lake of Como as more suitable to his attitude. As many rocks crowded the shore where Troubetzkoy wished to build his residence, he ordered to blast many mines to level the ground faster, deserving the nickname of Prince "Turbascogli" ("Rocktroubler").
The Milanese Pozzi family has been in possession of the villa for many years and they have brought great improvements and comforts, of which the lift is not the last.
